The second half of What's On Your Table is a look at Shannon's Smurf Droppod Army. Definitely a lot of fun with this one on a Sunday Night. One last note.... A tournament did not allow this army to be fielded, which is OK, but also sad. This army is a ton of fun, and I personally would love to have gotten my butt handed to me in a tournament by Smurfs. A lot of people were denied a truly unique gaming experience at that event.

Hi Natfka!
Just wanted to share a project I had completed a little while ago to your “what’s on your table” series.  I created a space marine drop pod army but converted the whole army to be little blue smurfs.  Calgar is represented by Poppa Smurf, the drop pods by mushrooms, tacticals are regular smurfs, the larger smurfs (so the regular sized ones you buy in stores) are terminators and I’ve got a storm talon and dreadnought as well.

The tacticals were the biggest challenge given that a regular smurf toy is just too big to be marine scale.  I eventually found a keychain toy machine with smurfs and casted this toy over and over again, dismembering the casts into legs/arms/heads/torsos so I could pose them in different ways.  Everything is WYSIWYG and has the appropriate weaponry etc.  (the terminators use hammers from warmachine, and casted turtle shells from a Koopa Nintendo toy).

The sergeants are all iconic smurfs such as baby smurf (had to build him a high chair walker) brawny, brainy and jokey smurf. Smurfette is my librarian.

Unfortunately the tournament I built this army to attend wouldn’t allow them, but locally they’ll make the occasional appearance as a fun ringer army when we’re at odd numbers.

Thanks!
Shannon
